How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you a qualified podiatrist passionate about delivering high-quality care in a community setting? Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking three motivated and compassionate Community Band 5 Podiatrists to join our established Community Podiatry Service across Oxfordshire.

    In this role, you will deliver evidence-based podiatric care to a diverse community caseload, supporting patients to improve mobility, reduce pain, and maintain tissue viability. You will work both independently and as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to develop your clinical skills across a range of community environments.
    These posts will cover the whole of Oxfordshire, with community-based working.

    Podiatrist - Main duties of the job

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Assess, diagnose, and manage the primary care of patients with foot health issues.

    * Provide wound care, toenail surgery, and prescribe orthoses.

    * Work independently and as part of a team, liaising with other healthcare professionals.

    * Participate in audits, service development projects, and training of junior staff.

    Requirements:

    * BSc in Podiatry (or equivalent) and HCPC registration.

    * Experience in assessing and treating complex foot pathologies.

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    * Ability to work under pressure and manage a caseload effectively.

    Podiatrist - Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    * Assessment and Diagnosis: Conducting reflective assessments, diagnosing, and treating conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structures to enhance mobility, reduce pain, and maintain tissue viability for patients across Oxfordshire

    * Primary Care Management: Managing the ongoing primary care of patients eligible for NHS podiatry, including those with 'at risk' foot health status, toenail pathology, and those requiring wound care and orthoses

    * Caseload Management: Independently managing a caseload of patients, ensuring effective communication and liaison with other healthcare professionals, and referring patients for further care as needed

    * Team Collaboration: Working within a podiatry team and developing professional links across care pathways, as well as participating in audits and service development projects

    * Training and Education: Supporting the training of junior staff, including apprentices and students, and undertaking training and education for a range of healthcare professionals and service users

    * Clinical Skills Maintenance: Maintaining high-quality clinical skills and ensuring continuing professional development in line with local and national guidelines

    * Patient Care: Providing care in various settings, including patients' homes, and ensuring adherence to departmental, Trust, and HCPC objectives, policies, standards, and guidelines.

    These duties ensure that the podiatrist provides high-quality care and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the Community Podiatry Service.

    Essential criteria

    - Accurate assessment, testing and diagnosis of complex foot pathologies within the specialist eligibility criteria of service.
    - Effective communication and partnership working with patients/the public, especially in respect of foot health education
    - BSc Podiatry (or equivalent – e.g., Diploma in Podiatric Medicine or Overseas qualification with equivalent BSc experience).
    - HCPC registration
    - Initiative - always challenging practices and working procedures to improve service delivery.
    - Ability to work under the pressures of demanding and competing priorities.
    - Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
    - Good team worker – cooperative, considerate, supportive, flexible
    - Applicants must have a full valid driving license and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.
