How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Business Development Manager Location:
    Remote covering South East
    Salary: £40k-£50k DOE
    OTE £60k upwards
    Company Car + Fuel card
    Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm

    About the Role
    Optima is looking for a driven and ambitious Business Development Manager to join our clients of ours, who is experiencing continued growth.  

    This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive sales professional who thrives on building relationships, winning new business, and growing existing accounts. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving sales performance, increasing gross profit, and strengthening customer partnerships across the South East region.

    Key ResponsibilitiesSales Growth & Customer Management
    Build and develop strong relationships with existing customers to achieve monthly sales and gross profit targets.
    Introduce new products and solutions to customers on a regular basis.
    Work closely with the internal sales team to ensure excellent customer communication and follow-up.
    Regular Face to Face meetings
    Identify, target, and convert new business opportunities through phone calls, email campaigns, LinkedIn networking, customer visits, and product demonstrations.Pipeline Management, Forecasting & Reporting
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the CRM system, ensuring all customer interactions and opportunities are logged.
    Prepare and submit quotations promptly, following up consistently to maximise conversion rates.
    Produce accurate monthly sales forecasts and track performance against targets and budgets.
    Report on sales activity, opportunities, and market developments during daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.Commercial & Team Accountability
    Take ownership of assigned accounts, ensuring maximum profitability and customer satisfaction.
    Collaborate with the EUK Sales Manager, internal sales team, and wider business to share market insights and identify growth opportunities.
    Maintain high standards of professionalism, persistence, and customer service at all times.What We’re Looking For
    Proven experience in business development, field sales, or account management.
    Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote role.
    Commercially driven with a focus on achieving targets and delivering results.
    Experience using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
    Full UK driving license and willingness to travel regularly.What We Offer
