How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Area 10 Highways account. This role will involve travel across the Northwest network and collaboration with teams delivering key infrastructure schemes.

    At Amey, we work in partnership with National Highways to keep the country moving safely and efficiently. Our Highways business maintains and improves road networks across Areas 7, 10 & 12, ensuring safer, more reliable journeys for road users.

    We are now looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on Area 10, supporting the delivery of schemes across one of the UK's busiest motorway and trunk road networks. You will play a key role in managing commercial performance under the NEC TSC contract, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly and to the highest standards.

    This is a critical role where you will lead commercial activities across schemes, working closely with operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners to drive value, manage risk and support successful project delivery.

    The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

    What you'll do:
    Commercial Leadership - Leading commercial management of highways schemes from inception through to completion
    Cost Management - Delivering accurate estimating, cost forecasting, cash flow management and CVR reporting
    Contract Management - Managing NEC4 processes including early warnings, compensation events and change control
    Team Leadership - Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
    Valuations & Accounts - Managing valuations, variations and final account settlements with clients and supply chain
    Procurement & Supply Chain - Supporting tendering, negotiation and subcontract management activities
    Performance Management - Monitoring project performance to ensure value, efficiency and effective risk management
    Stakeholder Collaboration - Working closely with National Highways, internal teams and supply chain partners

    Strong knowledge of NEC contract management (NEC3 / NEC4)
    Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within highways, civil engineering or infrastructure
    Experience managing commercial activities across full project lifecycles

    Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving capability
