How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    An established and highly successful MEP design consultancy is seeking to appoint a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join the team in Derry/Londonderry.

    The company & the opportunity:

    This well-established consultancy delivers full mechanical and electrical building services design across a broad portfolio of projects including: residential, commercial, hotels and retail. Joining this team, you will gain exposure to all stages of the design process and play a key role in delivering innovative and practical building services solutions.

    The company is open to engineers at varying levels of experience, with responsibilities tailored accordingly. More experienced candidates will have the opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior engineers and take ownership of client relationships. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions and maintaining long-term relationships with clients, contractors and design teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Design and specification of mechanical building services systems

    *

    Preparation of technical drawings, calculations and reports

    *

    Working collaboratively with architects, structural engineers and wider design teams

    *

    Supporting project delivery from concept through to completion

    *

    Attending client meetings and site visits as required

    *

    Liaising with contractors and construction teams during project delivery

    *

    Using and developing skills in 3D design and BIM software packages

    Criteria

    *

    Degree qualified (or working towards qualification) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

    *

    Experience within building services design consultancy would be advantageous

    *

    Strong communication and teamwork skills

    *

    Enthusiastic, motivated and keen to develop professionally

    *

    Comfortable learning and working with 3D design software/BIM packages

    *

    Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams

    *

    Confident attending site visits and engaging with construction professionals

    *

    Willingness to travel occasionally throughout Northern Ireland and the UK when required
