How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Talent Guardian is partnering with a well-established FMCG manufacturing business to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their engineering team in Knighton, Wales.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment where you will play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, minimising downtime and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

    The Role As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support across a wide range of production equipment and plant machinery. You will work closely with the wider Engineering and Production teams to ensure operational efficiency, reliability and safety standards are consistently maintained.
    Key responsibilities include:

    Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities
    Responding to breakdowns and fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems
    Recording maintenance activities accurately using CMMS systems
    Supporting continuous improvement and plant reliability projects
    Assisting with machinery upgrades, modifications and installations
    Ensuring all work is completed in line with health, safety, food safety and quality standards
    Supporting and mentoring operators and junior engineers where required What We’re Looking For
    Proven experience within FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing environments
    Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience
    Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance
    Fault-finding and root cause analysis experience
    Experience using CMMS systems
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
    Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach Desirable experience:

    PLC fault finding or programming experience
    TPM or continuous improvement experience
    Utilities systems experience such as steam, compressed air or refrigeration
    17th or 18th Edition qualification
    HNC or further Engineering qualifications What’s on Offer
    Salary of £42,800 - £45,000
    Shift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern - 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour shifts rotating every 2 blocks between days and nights
