How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Civil Project Engineer (Client Side)

    Tilbury | £45,000 – £48,000 + Excellent Benefits

Ideal for engineers from ports, airports, highways, rail, utilities or local authority infrastructure environments.

Deliver infrastructure projects inside a major UK operational port environment.

This is a client-side role, managing contractors and delivering a diverse portfolio of civil and infrastructure works across a live operational estate.

One week you may be overseeing a pavement repair or drainage scheme. The next, you could be involved in elements of a £50m container terminal upgrade, heavy-duty quayside infrastructure, conveyor installations or marine structures.

If you enjoy project variety, autonomy and complex infrastructure environments, this role offers exposure to projects of all sizes within a strategically important UK logistics hub.

    The Job Role & Responsibilities

    * You will support the delivery of multiple concurrent civil and infrastructure projects across the estate, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.

    * Managing projects from concept through to completion

    * Preparing technical specifications and tender documentation

    * Procuring and managing framework contractors

    * Monitoring project budgets, valuations and variations

    * Coordinating internal operational stakeholders

    * Ensuring CDM 2015 compliance and reviewing Construction Phase Plans

    * Inspecting works on site and maintaining project documentation

    * Supporting design modifications using AutoCAD

    * Balancing reactive works alongside planned capital schemes

    Typical Projects

    * Projects vary significantly in scale and complexity and may include:

    * Heavy-duty pavement and surfacing works

    * Port and marine infrastructure upgrades

    * Conveyor installations and logistics infrastructure

    * Structural repairs and operational facility improvements

    * Capital works programmes across the wider estate

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering civil or infrastructure projects within an operational environment: Ports / marine infrastructure, Airports or logistics hubs, Local authority capital works, Highways infrastructure, Utilities infrastructure, Rail infrastructure, Industrial estates or operational facilities

    Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

    * Experience managing contractors rather than direct labour

    * Exposure to procurement, tendering and contract administration

    * Budget and programme management experience

    * Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

    * Degree in Civil Engineering or HNC/HND with relevant experience

    Pay & Benefits

    * Basic salary of up to £48,000 per annum

    * 35 days holiday

    * Solid pension, health care schemes and wellbeing initiatives

    * Exceptional project variety across a major operational port

    * Exposure to large-scale infrastructure upgrades

    * Client-side role with real project ownership

    * Long-term career development within a major infrastructure asset
