How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Supporting project delivery through effective planning, coordination and communication
Mentoring and developing less experienced engineers
Contributing to forecasting, resourcing and wider business delivery
Promoting best practice, lessons learned and continuous improvement

    About You

You'll be an experienced cable design engineer with the confidence to work autonomously while supporting and guiding others.

    Essential experience:

3-5+ years' experience in cable design
Strong background in UK power, utilities, telecoms or related infrastructure sectors
Proven use of CYMCAP, ELEK, Cableizer or similar tools
Experience delivering designs to time, cost and quality constraints
Ability to review, challenge and approve technical outputs

    Qualifications:

    Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential)
    Chartership or working towards (desirable)

    Key skills & attributes:

Strong technical judgement and attention to detail
Ability to coach, mentor and lead others
Clear and confident communicator at all levels
    Proactive, ethical and solutions-focused approach
Committed to safety, quality and continuous improvement

    What's on Offer

Opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects
Clear progression to Principal level (if not already operating there)
    Collaborative, people-focused engineering environment
Competitive salary and benefits packageWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status
