General Cover Teacher

We are currently recruiting for a confident and adaptable General Cover Teacher to join a supportive secondary special school based in Tamworth from after May half term until July 2026.

This is a full-time position and offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a professional and welcoming school team committed to supporting young people with additional needs and preparing them for adulthood and the world of work.
The school is a co-educational special school in Tamworth, Staffordshire, supporting students aged 11 to 19. The school places a strong emphasis on personalised learning, helping pupils to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills for their future pathways.

The Role As a General Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of curriculum subjects, ensuring students remain engaged and supported in their learning. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility and adaptability are essential.

You will be expected to:

Deliver lessons across a variety of subject areas
Maintain a positive and productive learning environment
Manage behaviour effectively and confidently
Build positive relationships with students and staff
Support students with additional learning and behavioural needs
Fully immerse yourself in school life and contribute positively to the wider school community
Work collaboratively as part of a professional and supportive teamThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
Experience teaching or covering within a secondary school setting
Strong behaviour management skills
Confidence delivering lessons across multiple curriculum subjects
A flexible and proactive approach to teaching
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
The ability to adapt teaching styles to meet individual student needs
Commitment to working full-time for the remainder of the academic year
