How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Wolviston Management Service is delighted to be working in partnership with Tioxide for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial Team at its Greatham manufacturing site.

This is a senior commercial role, providing commercial management support across both site maintenance and project activity. You will be responsible for ensuring costs, contracts, valuations, variations, risks and financial reporting are managed accurately, effectively and in line with governance expectations.

Working closely with maintenance, engineering, project delivery teams, site stakeholders, contractors and suppliers, you will provide strong commercial advice and control to ensure work is delivered in line with technical, financial, contractual and operational requirements. The role will also support value engineering, forecasting accuracy, contractor performance and the timely agreement of final accounts.

    Key Responsibilities
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:

Manage commercial and cost control activity within your area of responsibility.
Ensure costs are allocated correctly and reported accurately in line with the code of accounts.
Prepare cost estimates, budgets, accruals, Cost Value Reports, forecasts and commercial progress reports.
Review, verify and support payment of contractor valuations, ensuring invoices are accurate, timely and compliant with contract terms.
Support tendering and procurement activity, including procurement strategies, tender packages, contractor evaluations and contract negotiations.
Manage contracts, variations, claims, change orders and scope changes.
Ensure commercial changes are justified, recorded, controlled and aligned with governance requirements.
Lead or support contractor management meetings and monitor commercial procedures throughout the contract lifecycle.
Provide commercial insight during planning, scheduling, constructability reviews and resource planning.
Work with site teams, engineering, contractors and suppliers to monitor cost, programme, productivity, man-hours, KPIs and value engineering opportunities.
Escalate commercial risks, performance issues and improvement opportunities where required.
Support mentoring and commercial capability development across junior commercial staff and site teams.
    Candidate Requirements
We welcome applications from candidates who have:

A degree, or equivalent knowledge, in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
Significant experience in quantity surveying or commercial management.
Experience within oil & gas, petrochemical, nuclear, chemical, process, infrastructure or another highly regulated / COMAH environment.
Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, valuations, contract administration, change management and final account processes.
The ability to interpret complex contract, commercial and project information.
Experience preparing estimates, budgets, accruals, Cost Value Reports, commercial reports and reconciliation documents.
Experience managing contractor valuations, invoices, variations, claims and change orders.
Strong Excel and commercial reporting capability.
SAP capability, or experience using comparable ERP or commercial systems.
Membership of RICS or another relevant professional body.
    Why Join Tioxide?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a major manufacturing site at an important stage in its development. You will play a key role in providing commercial control across critical maintenance and project activity, working in a technically complex and highly regulated environment.

Tioxide is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and able to contribute. Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences, including those from groups currently under-represented in engineering, manufacturing and leadership roles
