About the Role of Costs Draftsman:
The successful candidate will support the legal team by preparing accurate and timely costs documentation for a range of housing‑related matters. You will play a key role in ensuring costs are properly presented, negotiated, and recovered efficiently.
Key Responsibilities for the Costs Draftsman:
Working closely with fee earners and solicitors on concluded cases
Drafting costs schedules for statutory nuisance matters (Environmental Protection Act 1990)
Preparing and negotiating costs for Housing Disrepair and related breach of contract claims
Supervising junior costs paralegals within the team
Assisting with enforcement of costs or damages where required
Supporting the wider department with additional tasks to ensure smooth workflow
About You
You'll be a confident communicator with strong written skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years' experience in legal costs drafting
Strong IT skills
High level of accuracy and organisation
Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality
