How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

SEMH Assistant – Bexley Specialist School

A specialist school in Bexley is recruiting a SEMH Assistant for September, supporting pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to engage successfully with education. The school works with students whose needs can include SEMH, autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties, with a strong emphasis on routine, trust, and therapeutic approaches. Staff are trained to understand behaviour through a relational lens, creating a thoughtful and measured environment rather than a punitive one. For graduates considering careers in child psychology, educational psychology, mental health support, or SEN teaching, this SEMH Assistant role provides exceptional frontline experience within specialist education.

The school places significant value on consistency and emotional regulation, both for pupils and staff. As a SEMH Assistant, you’ll work alongside experienced teachers, pastoral teams, and behaviour specialists to support students who may struggle with anxiety, emotional control, or social interaction. You’ll develop practical skills around de-escalation, restorative conversations, and behaviour intervention planning, all while gaining a much deeper understanding of child development and mental health in education. Graduates who succeed here are typically reflective, reliable, and genuinely motivated by supporting vulnerable young people.

    Key Highlights:

    * SEMH Assistant – September start, full-time position

    * £100–£115 per day depending on experience

    * Bexley location with good transport connections

    * Ofsted Good specialist school focused on inclusive education

    * Long-term contract with progression opportunities available

    * Excellent experience for aspiring Child Psychologists and SEN Teachers

    * Specialist training in SEMH, behaviour intervention, and emotional regulation

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    * Supporting pupils with SEMH needs across lessons and structured activities

    * Assisting with emotional regulation strategies during challenging moments

    * Encouraging engagement through consistent routines and positive relationships

    * Helping teachers implement personalised behaviour support plans

    * Supervising structured social and wellbeing interventions throughout the day

Ideal Candidate for this Bexley School:

    * Graduates with an interest in psychology, mental health, or specialist education

    * Calm and dependable individuals able to build trust with young people

    * Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    * Previous mentoring, coaching, or youth support experience advantageous

    * Commitment to working full-time as a SEMH Assistant from September

    Why Join this Bexley School?

    * Therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional support

    * Close collaboration between teaching, safeguarding, and pastoral teams

    * Specialist CPD focused on SEMH and child development

    * Meaningful experience supporting pupils with complex emotional needs

    * Strong reputation for developing graduates into future SEN professionals

    How to Apply:

If you’re hoping to gain first-hand SEMH experience before progressing into psychology, therapy, or teaching, this SEMH Assistant role offers an excellent next step. Apply through this advert to be considered for September interviews.

Working as a SEMH Assistant in this setting will give you practical insight into behaviour, emotional development, and specialist support strategies that few graduate roles can match. It’s the kind of experience that carries real weight for future careers in education and psychology
