How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Learning Support Assistant – Bexley Specialist School

A well-regarded specialist school in Bexley is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join its team from September. The school supports students with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs, creating a calm and highly structured environment where pupils are encouraged to build confidence and independence. Staff work closely together, and new team members are given meaningful guidance from experienced SEN professionals from the outset. This Learning Support Assistant role would suit a graduate looking to gain long-term, hands-on experience before progressing into educational psychology, child psychology, speech and language therapy, or teacher training. The school has built a strong reputation locally for developing graduates into highly capable SEN practitioners.

Daily life in the school is purposeful, consistent, and relationship-led. Pupils respond well to adults who are patient, emotionally intelligent, and genuinely interested in understanding how children learn best. As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll gain experience supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, learning how behaviour strategies, communication approaches, and targeted interventions work in practice. Senior leaders are highly visible throughout the school and place strong emphasis on staff development, reflective practice, and wellbeing. For aspiring SEN Teachers and future psychologists, this is the kind of environment where practical experience quickly becomes highly valuable.

    Key Highlights:

    * Learning Support Assistant – full-time September start

    * Earn between £95–£110 per day depending on experience

    * Based in Bexley, South East London with strong transport links

    * Ofsted Good specialist provision with a respected SEN reputation

    * Long-term opportunity with permanent routes available

    * Ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Child Psychologists, and SEN Teachers

    * Structured onboarding and ongoing training in autism and SEMH support

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    * Supporting pupils with additional needs during lessons and structured interventions

    * Assisting teachers with differentiated classroom activities and resources

    * Encouraging positive behaviour through consistent routines and clear expectations

    * Delivering small-group literacy, numeracy, and communication support sessions

    * Monitoring student engagement and reporting progress to teaching staff

Ideal Candidate for this Bexley School:

    * Graduates with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in SEN

    * Candidates considering careers in psychology, therapy, or specialist teaching

    * Individuals who remain calm, resilient, and patient under pressure

    * Experience working with young people desirable but not essential

    * Commitment to a full-time role from September through the academic year

    Why Join this Bexley School?

    * Specialist staff trained in autism, SEMH, and therapeutic approaches

    * Smaller class sizes allowing meaningful relationships with students

    * Clear progression routes into teacher training and SEN education

    * Experienced pastoral and safeguarding teams working collaboratively

    * Purpose-built spaces designed to support sensory and emotional regulation

    How to Apply:

If you’re hoping to build meaningful SEN experience before training as a psychologist or teacher, this Learning Support Assistant role offers an excellent foundation. Applications are being reviewed now for September starts, so apply through this listing to be considered.

For graduates serious about understanding child development, behaviour, and additional needs in a practical setting, this Learning Support Assistant position offers experience that is difficult to replicate elsewhere. You’ll leave the year with genuine classroom confidence and a far deeper understanding of specialist education
