How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role



    As a Residential Children’s Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stable home environment for children and young people. You will provide day-to-day care, emotional support, and guidance while helping individuals develop confidence, independence, and life skills. You’ll act as a positive role model, supporting young people through challenges and celebrating their achievements along the way.



    Responsibilities



    • Support children and young people with their daily routines, including personal care where required
    • Build positive, trusting relationships and provide emotional support
    • Promote safe behaviours and help manage challenges in line with care plans
    • Maintain appropriate boundaries, structure, and consistency
    • Support education, hobbies, and social development activities
    • Work in partnership with families, schools, and external professionals
    • Contribute to care plans, reports, and reviews with accurate record-keeping
    • Ensure the home remains safe, clean, and secure at all times
    • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all young people


    Qualifications



    • Essential: Experience working with children or young people in a caring or support role
    • Understanding of child development and emotional needs
    • Awareness of safeguarding, including risks such as exploitation, self-harm, and domestic challenges
    • Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional in challenging situations
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills
    • Desirable: Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Children & Young People (or willingness to work towards this)

    Pay range and compensation package



    Salary: £28,392-£29,484
