How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Thermodynamics Engineer

An innovative engineering and technology business is seeking a Thermodynamics Engineer to support the development of advanced thermal management and cooling systems used within high-performance industrial and scientific applications.

This is an opportunity to join a research and development focused environment working on technically complex products from concept through to testing and manufacture.

    The Role

You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimisation of thermal and refrigeration systems, supporting new product development activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams. The position will involve thermodynamic modelling, product testing, system validation, and continuous improvement activities.

    Key Responsibilities

Design and develop thermal management and refrigeration systems for specialist applications.
Carry out thermodynamic and heat transfer calculations to support product performance and development.
Develop and validate mathematical and simulation models to predict system behaviour and reduce prototype dependency.
Produce and review technical specifications for thermal systems and associated components.
Support testing activities, analyse performance data, and identify opportunities for product improvement.
Work closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
Contribute to research and development activities focused on improving performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Support technical investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for product issues.
Produce technical documentation and support compliance with relevant quality and regulatory standards.

    Requirements

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, or a related discipline.
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, refrigeration principles, and heat transfer.
Experience developing thermal, cooling, or refrigeration systems.
Experience with engineering calculations, modelling, and simulation tools.
Knowledge of structured product development processes including FMEA and design-for-manufacture principles.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    Desirable Experience

Experience using simulation or engineering tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, Refprop, Flownex, or similar.
Experience within advanced engineering, R&D, or regulated product environments.
Knowledge of low-temperature systems, specialist refrigerants, or thermal process equipment.
Exposure to agile or phase-gate product development methodologies.

    What's on Offer

Opportunity to work on innovative and technically challenging engineering projects.
    Collaborative and engineering-led working environment.
    Career development and progression opportunities.
    Competitive salary and benefits package
