How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Home Manager | Gillingham

    Stephen James Consulting is partnering with a unique not elderly care provider to recruit a Home Manager for one of their care homes in Medway, Kent. This is a medium-sized residential/nursing home that requires a confident leader to bring structure, stability, and clear operational direction. The role is open to both RGN and Non-RGN candidates. While previous Home Manager experience is preferred, strong Deputy Managers ready to step up will also be considered.

    This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced professional with proven turnaround experience to take ownership of a service requiring improvement and drive it towards high-quality care, compliance, and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring safe, high-quality care delivery

    * Deliver turnaround plans to improve compliance, performance, and overall standards

    * Ensure full adherence to CQC and all relevant regulatory requirements

    * Provide strong leadership and support to all staff teams, promoting accountability and development

    * Oversee budgets, resources, and financial performance of the service

    * Maintain and improve care planning, safeguarding, and clinical governance processes

    * Drive occupancy growth and enhance the home’s reputation locally

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with families, stakeholders, and regulators

    Requirements

    * Experience as a Home Manager or strong Deputy Manager ready to step up

    * Essential: proven turnaround experience within a care home setting

    * Strong understanding of CQC regulations and compliance standards

    * Excellent leadership and people management skills

    * Ability to manage operational challenges and drive measurable improvements

    * Strong communication and organisational abilities

    * Passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care

    The role offers a salary of £70,000 - £80,000 per annum. + Excllent Benefits
