How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Estimator – M&E Contractor
    £65,000 - £85,000 + Package

    A well-established and growing M&E Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking business delivering a wide range of commercial, residential and fit out projects across London and the South East.

    The company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical projects and continues to secure repeat business with major clients and contractors. Due to continued growth and an increasing pipeline of work, they are looking to strengthen their estimating division with the addition of a commercially aware and technically strong Mechanical Estimator.

    The Role:
    As Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for projects ranging from small works through to multi-million-pound M&E schemes. You will work closely with directors, project managers and the wider pre-construction team to ensure tenders are completed to a high standard and within deadlines.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Prepare detailed mechanical estimates and cost plans
    • Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications
    • Carry out take-offs and pricing of mechanical services packages
    • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
    • Attend tender meetings and site surveys where required
    • Identify value engineering opportunities and commercial risks
    • Support handovers to project delivery teams following successful tenders
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners

    Requirements:
    • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the M&E / Building Services sector
    • Experience tendering commercial, residential or fit out projects
    • Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
    • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
