How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Plant Service Manager

    Location: Hemel Hempstead
    Shift: Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 5:30pm
    Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum
    Contract: Permanent

    We are looking for an experienced and driven Plant Service Manager to lead a busy service department which will involve managing a team of 6. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in plant hire, construction or rental company.

    You will oversee the day-to-day running of the workshop and service department, managing a team of fitters, breakdown staff, and administrators while ensuring equipment availability, compliance, and performance targets are consistently achieved.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Oversee the daily operations and smooth running of the department

    * Manage hire equipment inspections, including Service Red Pen Checks

    * Ensure health & safety standards are consistently followed and safe working procedures are adhered to by all staff

    * Coordinate both major and minor repairs to maximise fleet uptime and availability

    * Monitor team performance, providing ongoing support, coaching, and development opportunities for staff

    * Ensure all employee training and certifications remain current and compliant

    * Maintain high compliance standards across the workshop and operational areas Accurately complete and process workshop staff timesheets within deadlines

    * Conduct regular team meetings and operational briefings

    * Communicate company objectives, KPIs, and important business updates effectively to the team

    * Review weekly purchase order reports to identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor overspend

    * Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of workshop fitters when required

    * Promote a positive working culture focused on engagement, productivity, and employee retention

    About You

    * Previous experience within plant hire, construction, rental, or heavy equipment industries

    * Proven experience managing workshop/service operations

    * Good understanding of plant machinery maintenance and repairs

    * NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent
