How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CNC Machine Operator

    📍 Brompton-on-Swale, Richmond, North Yorkshire
    💼 Full-Time | Permanent
    🏭 Manufacturing / Steel Fabrication

    About the Role

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join a busy and well-established steel manufacturing business based in Brompton-on-Swale.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of CNC machinery within the production facility, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are maintained.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Operate CNC machinery efficiently and safely as part of a rotating production team

    * Complete and follow daily CNC processing checklists

    * Monitor machinery performance and identify maintenance requirements

    * Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase production efficiency

    * Liaise with equipment manufacturers and engineers regarding machine breakdowns and servicing

    * Work closely with the Works Manager, Supervisors, and wider production team

    * Assist with staff training where required

    Machinery Experience Preferred

    Experience operating any of the following machinery would be highly advantageous:

    * Voortman blast, saw, and drill lines

    * Kaltenbach Profitline fittings machinery

    * Peddinghaus saw/drill machinery

    Candidate Requirements

    Essential Skills & Attributes

    * Good communication skills

    * Ability to work independently and use initiative

    * Reliable and punctual

    * Well organised with the ability to prioritise workloads

    * Positive attitude towards training and development

    Desirable Experience

    * Previous experience within a steel fabrication or heavy engineering environment

    * Experience improving operational efficiencies and production processes

    * Training or mentoring of production staff

    Additional Information

    * Overtime and weekend working may be required to meet production demands

    * Ongoing training and development opportunities available

    * Reporting directly to the Works Manager
