How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title Procurement Coordinator

    Department Supply Chain / Procurement

    Reporting To Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager

    Role Purpose

    The Procurement Coordinator supports internal procurement and field service materials activity within the rail industry, ensuring the timely sourcing, purchasing and delivery of materials, tools and services. The role works closely with engineering, field service, logistics, finance and suppliers to maintain continuity of supply, support service delivery and projects, and ensure compliance with company procedures, rail standards and customer requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support all internal procurement activities for operational and business requirements, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders and supplier coordination.

    * Source materials, consumables, tools and services for rail operations and field service activities, ensuring best value, suitable lead times and reliable supply.

    * Obtain and assess supplier quotations, negotiate where appropriate, and monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, service and delivery.

    * Track order progress, maintain accurate procurement records and resolve supply, invoice or delivery issues proactively.

    * Ensure all procurement activity complies with company policy, contractual obligations, governance procedures and rail industry regulations.

    Field Service Materials Coordination

    * Coordinate urgent and planned material requirements for maintenance, repair, overhaul and project activities, ensuring engineers have the correct materials when needed.

    * Work with field service, warehouse and logistics teams to forecast demand, track availability, manage stock levels, and coordinate dispatch, returns and inventory control.

    * Expedite critical materials to minimise operational downtime, support customer commitments and assist with inventory optimisation.

    Supplier & Stakeholder Management

    * Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, supporting performance reviews and escalating concerns where necessary.

    * Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to confirm specifications and with finance on goods receipting, invoice queries and cost tracking.

    Compliance & Continuous Improvement

    * Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards, rail industry requirements, audits and reporting obligations.

    * Support continuous improvement, cost-saving initiatives and process efficiencies across procurement and supply chain activities.

    Skills & Experience

    Essential

    * Previous procurement or supply chain experience within rail, engineering, manufacturing or field service environments, with experience supporting operational or engineering material requirements.

    * Good understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, inventory coordination and logistics.

    * Strong organisational, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experienced in using ERP or procurement systems.

    * Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness and customer focus.

    Desirable

    * Experience within the rail industry and knowledge of rail materials, components, maintenance operations, quality standards and compliance requirements.

    * CIPS qualification or working towards certification.
