How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Estimator

    Working from the company’s Northwest office and home, this challenging and exciting opportunity, requires an individual with demonstrable estimating experience from any area of the civils sector.

    Our Client

    Our client is a specialist in the design, supply and installation of all forms of heavy civil engineering techniques and disciplines. They are vastly experienced in delivering innovative solutions in a wide range of sectors, with additional service offerings such as early works, enabling works, earthworks, groundworks, retaining walls, temporary works and bracing.

    Overview

    Due to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of framework contracts, our client is now looking to appoint an Estimator who will take the responsibility for pricing projects and scopes of work. The successful candidate should be able to review documents to determine the key cost considerations associated with proposed projects. You will possess good technical acumen coupled with a positive interest in the sector. You will also have a professional approach and a keen eye for detail, along with good communication and IT skills.

    The Role

    * Understand and deliver client's requirements, and liaise with all required stakeholders

    * Ensure the appropriate selection of technique is chosen to suit the site conditions.

    * Produce and prepare tenders for submittal to clients and respond to any technical queries

    * To cost, budget, tender, negotiate and secure orders for a variety of contracts

    * Preparation of settlement packs for review by the business at meetings.

    * Awareness of risk including H&S and commercial aspects.

    * To liaise and provide support to the operation team during the installation phase, if required

    * Develop long lasting relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.

    * Co-ordinating and responding to client's requests by utilising experience from colleagues.

    * Collaborative working with other group business units in JV to achieve shared end goals.

    The Person

    * Estimating experience in the civil engineering sector

    * Ability to sometimes work in isolation (at home) and communicate technical information simply and clearly both in writing and verbally, sometimes to a non-technical audience

    * Enthusiasm and results focussed, with an ability to work well under pressure

    * Good negotiation skills with both internal and external clients and teams

    * Possess the strategic and creative insight to understand opportunities within tenders
