How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    As part of the wider transport and civils drainage team, you will contribute to projects that improve network resilience, support climate adaptation and enhance long-term asset performance.     Role overview
    You will lead end-to-end drainage design delivery from option development through detailed design, approvals, construction support and handover. Your responsibilities include producing designs, calculations, reports and coordinated 3D BIM models that meet programme, quality and client requirements while ensuring compliance with Irish and UK standards. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical interfaces, promote BIM-led delivery, support Modern Methods of Construction, and advance sustainable design outcomes with focus on resilience, constructability and whole-life thinking.
    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the delivery of drainage design packages for transport and civil engineering projects
    Prepare and review drainage calculations, hydraulic assessments, reports, drawings and technical documentation
    Develop and coordinate 3D models in line with current BIM standards and digital delivery requirements
    Apply relevant Irish and UK design standards to ensure compliance across all project outputs
    Coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, clients, regulators and external stakeholders to progress designs and secure approvals
    Identify, manage and resolve technical interfaces with highways, structures, geotechnical, environmental, utilities and construction teams
    Contribute to climate adaptation and resilient infrastructure solutions for transport networks
    Support the integration of sustainability principles and Modern Methods of Construction into drainage design approaches
    Use digital workflows and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled processes where appropriate, to improve delivery efficiency and design assurance
    Undertake technical reviews and quality checks to ensure outputs are accurate, coordinated and fit for purpose
    Provide construction support and respond to technical queries during project delivery
    Mentor junior engineers, support workload planning and help strengthen technical capability across the teamEssential Skills, Qualifications and Experience

    Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline
    Minimum of eight years' experience in drainage design and multidisciplinary project delivery
    Strong working knowledge of Irish and UK drainage standards, including TII, GDRCP, DMRB, Sewers for Adoption and CIRIA guidance
    Demonstrated experience delivering drainage solutions across transport and civil infrastructure projects
    Strong competence in 3D modelling and BIM workflows
    Ability to produce high-quality technical deliverables, including design calculations, reports and coordinated models
    Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing design interfaces effectively
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members
    Understanding of sustainable design principles, resilience and practical constructability considerations
    Desirable: Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or equivalent)
    Desirable: training in climate adaptation, hydrology expertise, and experience working with Tier 1 contractors and national authoritiesHow to apply
