How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias

    Location: Gainsborough
Salary: Competitive salary plus overtime, bonus and excellent benefits
    Job Type: Permanent
Sector: Food Manufacturing / FMCG / Manufacturing Engineering

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias

Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical fault-finding skills and good mechanical ability?

This is a great opportunity to join a busy, fast-paced food manufacturing site in Gainsborough, working as part of an established engineering team supporting production, site services, breakdowns, PPMs and continuous improvement.

The role would suit an engineer with experience in manufacturing, food production, FMCG, poultry processing, packaging, process plant or other high-volume production environments.

You’ll be joining a stable business that offers overtime, ongoing training, a strong benefits package and long-term career development.

    What’s in it for you?

You’ll receive a competitive salary depending on experience, overtime availability, training and development opportunities, free hot drinks on shift, an on-site canteen with a free meal daily, service awards, enhanced maternity and paternity benefits, free life insurance and an enhanced sick pay scheme.

Additional benefits include Perkbox discounts, discounted eggs and chicken, an extra celebration day after one year’s service, DigiCare+ health support, discounted gym memberships, free eye tests, discounted mobile phone contracts, yearly bonus eligibility after six months’ service, wellbeing support and an employee charity matching scheme.

    The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding and improving a wide range of production machinery and site services equipment across a fast-moving food manufacturing environment.

You’ll be involved in both reactive and planned maintenance, helping to minimise downtime, improve reliability and keep production running safely and efficiently.

You will respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, carry out fault-finding on production machinery, maintain conveyors, packing machinery, chillers and processing equipment, and support PPM activity across the site.

You’ll also fault-find on PLC-controlled systems, motors, drives, sensors and control panels, as well as carrying out mechanical work on gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics and basic fabrication.

The role will also involve supporting shutdowns, installations and engineering projects, recording maintenance activity using a CMMS system and working closely with production and hygiene teams to reduce downtime.

    What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a qualified Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias and solid mechanical skills.

You’ll ideally have a recognised electrical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent, along with strong electrical fault-finding experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, food production or high-volume production environment.

You should have good working knowledge of motors, inverters, sensors, control systems and PLC fault-finding. Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics would also be highly beneficial.

A good understanding of isolation, lock-off, safe systems of work, food safety and health and safety standards is important, as this is a high-volume production environment where safety and reliability matter.

Food, FMCG or poultry processing experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other relevant manufacturing environments will also be considered.

You do not need to be a PLC programmer, but you should be confident fault-finding on PLC-controlled equipment.

    Suitable Job Titles May Include

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, FMCG Maintenance Engineer, Food Manufacturing Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Maintenance Technician.
