How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Manual Miller & CNC Operator/Programmer
    Birmingham
    Up to £19 per hour (depending on experience)
    Monday – Thursday | Early Finish Fridays!

    A well-established and growing manufacturing company in Birmingham is looking for an experienced Manual Miller to join their skilled engineering team. This role will be approximately 70% manual milling, with the remaining work on CNC machines. Training on CNC can be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone with strong manual machining experience who wants to further develop their CNC skills.
    Key Responsibilities:
    Set up and operate manual milling machines to produce precision components.
    Operate and program CNC machines where required.
    Work from engineering drawings to manufacture parts to tight tolerances.
    Carry out routine machine maintenance and ensure machines are running efficiently.
    Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
    Work collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines and quality standards.
    Skills & Experience Required:

    Extensive experience operating manual milling machines.
    Experience with machines such as Colchester lathes, XYZ Pro Turn, or OKUMA (or similar).
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    CNC operating/programming experience is advantageous but training can be provided.
    Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
