How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT / ECT) - Retford

    Are you a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) or Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to gain valuable classroom experience in supportive primary schools across Retford?
    Academics are working closely with a range of welcoming schools, offering flexible, temporary ongoing opportunities that allow you to build confidence, develop your teaching practice, and find the year groups that suit you best.

    Position: Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT / ECT)
    Location: Retford, Nottinghamshire
    Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing
    Pay: £130 - £190 per day (paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees)
    Start Date: ASAP or from a start date that works for you

    About the Role

    As an Newly Qualified Teacher working on supply in Retford, you will have the opportunity to teach across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 in a variety of supportive school environments. This role is ideal for newly qualified teachers who want to gain broad experience, strengthen behaviour management skills, and grow in confidence without the pressure of a permanent contract.

    You'll be supported by experienced staff in school and by your dedicated Academics consultant throughout your placements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across the primary curriculum
    Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
    Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils
    Promote positive behaviour and pupil wellbeing
    Assess and monitor pupil progress
    Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
    Follow safeguarding policies at all times

    Candidate Requirements

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Recently qualified or completing ECT induction
    Enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to develop
    Strong communication and classroom management skills
    Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
