How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Manager – Fire Doors / Carpentry (FIRAS)

    Location: Birmingham (B29)
    Rate: £300 per day

    Ridgeway & Co are currently working with a well-established contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager with a strong carpentry background and FIRAS knowledge to oversee fire door replacement and QA works on a residential project in Birmingham (B29 area).

    This role will involve managing the installation, compliance, and certification of fire doors across multiple buildings, ensuring all works are delivered safely, to programme, and in line with current fire safety regulations and FIRAS standards.

    Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations, subcontractor management, and quality assurance of fire door installations.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Oversee the installation and replacement of fire doors and associated carpentry works

    * Ensure all works comply with fire safety regulations and FIRAS standards

    * Carry out QA inspections, audits, and certification checks

    * Manage subcontract carpentry teams and drive productivity on site

    * Coordinate site logistics, materials, and deliveries

    * Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings

    * Enforce RAMS, permits to work, and H&S procedures

    * Monitor programme and report progress to the Project Manager

    * Manage snagging, inspections, and project handover

    Requirements

    * Proven experience as a Site Manager on fire door / carpentry projects

    * Strong understanding of fire door compliance, installation, and QA processes

    * Experience working on FIRAS-accredited projects or with FIRAS-certified installers

    * Ability to manage subcontract teams and maintain quality standards

    * Background in refurbishment or residential projects

    * Strong organisational and communication skills

    Qualifications

    * SMSTS

    * CSCS (Manager Card)

    * First Aid at Work

    * FIRAS awareness / experience (essential)

    * Fire Marshal (desirable)
