How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

    Location: Wellingborough (must live within a commutable distance)

    Hours: Days only (Apply online only) - no shift pattern, minimal call‑out

    Salary: £41,375 + excellent benefits

    The Role

    As a mechanical maintenance engineer, you will be involved in the following

    Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to maximise uptime and equipment performance.
    Responding quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns to minimise disruption.
    Diagnosing and repairing faults across a range of production machinery.
    Working safely in line with SSOW, risk assessments, SOPs and company policies.
    Completing PPMs and reactive tasks within agreed timeframes.
    Maintaining accurate maintenance records (manual and electronic).
    Ensuring all repairs are validated by engineering supervision and production teams.
    Keeping the workshop organised, safe and compliant, including correct parts usage.
    Participating in limited call‑out cover and supporting during absence periods.

    Experience Required

    To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will have the following

    Experience with machinery such as granulators, conveyors, hammermills, extrusion equipment, colour separators, gearboxes, bearings, rollers and shafts.
    Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (preferred).
    Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
    A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
    Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethic.
    Confident using PC‑based software.
    Reliable, organised and committed to high standards.
