How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

AP Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) | Blackpool

Urgent Start | Temp-to-Perm | Competitive daily rate

    Overview

Are you a resilient and empathetic individual dedicated to supporting students who find mainstream education challenging? A leading Alternative Provision (AP) in Blackpool is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.

This is a Temp-to-Perm opportunity, offering you the chance to ensure the setting is the right fit for you while providing the school with a long-term solution for their pupils. You will focus on supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, helping them re-engage with learning and develop vital life skills.

    Key Responsibilities

Behavioural Support: Implementing de-escalation strategies and supporting students with complex emotional and social needs.

1:1 Mentoring: Building trust and rapport with specific students to boost confidence and remove barriers to learning.

Curriculum Assistance: Helping students access a modified or vocational curriculum, tailored to their individual needs.

Safeguarding: Maintaining a safe environment and following strict reporting protocols for student welfare.

    Requirements (Essential)

Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or within an AP/PRU setting.

DBS: You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new one immediately.

Resilience: A calm, patient "can-do" attitude and the ability to remain professional in high-pressure situations.

Qualifications: Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is highly desirable.

    What the Role Offers

Contract Type: Temp-to-Perm. This role starts as a temporary contract with the explicit intention of transitioning into a permanent position for the right candidate.

Rate: Competitive pay based on experience, paid weekly during the temporary period.

Career Growth: Access to specialised training within an Alternative Provision setting.

Impact: A genuine opportunity to change the trajectory of vulnerable young people's lives.
