How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Engineer – Infrastructure

    As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering major infrastructure improvements on a high-profile highways scheme designed to reduce congestion, enhance safety, and support regional growth.

    You will take responsibility for setting out, engineering control, and quality assurance, while coordinating and mentoring the site engineering team to ensure successful project delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support the maintenance of a safe working environment and contribute to project planning and resource coordination.

    * Prepare, review, and implement Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).

    * Lead and supervise the site engineering team, delegating responsibilities and supporting the development of junior engineers.

    * Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, raising RFIs and technical queries where necessary.

    * Maintain accurate site records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Liaise with commercial teams to support accurate reporting and assist with snagging and quality close-out processes.

    * Promote efficient working practices and minimise waste on site.

    About You

    * Strong understanding of safe working practices and the ability to interpret technical drawings and data accurately.

    * Advanced setting out capability, including experience with Levels, EDM, and GPS equipment.

    * Previous experience delivering civil engineering projects within sectors such as highways, rail, aviation, or water infrastructure.

    * NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

    * SMSTS and CSCS certification.
