How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Lead/Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

    📍 Location: Leeds
    💰 Salary: Up-To £60k + Electric Company Car or Car Allowance
    🕐 Mon – Friday – 40 Hours Per Week with flexible start time & up-to 3 days WFH

    About The Company:
    This growing company is a leader in providing low-carbon heating and cooling systems for the building services industry. With a strong focus on decarbonisation, the business is helping to tackle climate change by offering innovative engineering solutions. As a key player in the green economy, they collaborate on diverse projects that span from concept to completion, providing excellent opportunities for engineers to grow and contribute to cutting-edge sustainability efforts.

    The Role:

    As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical leadership role within our integrated mechanical, electrical, and building services design function. Reporting directly to the M+E Design Manager, you'll take full responsibility for the design and delivery of electrical systems across complex projects — setting design direction, mentoring junior engineers, and driving innovation in low carbon technologies. This position requires an experienced and confident engineer who can combine deep technical knowledge with strong commercial awareness. You’ll bring strategic thinking to the table, shape early stage concepts, and ensure robust, regulation-compliant systems are delivered to the highest standards.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Lead the end-to-end electrical design process from feasibility to detailed execution, across high profile HVAC and refrigeration projects

    * Provide senior-level technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers

    * Collaborate with the estimating and sales team to review enquiries and develop competitive, compliant concept solutions

    * Oversee site surveys and evaluate existing systems, identifying integration opportunities and retrofit solutions

    * Champion best practices in energy-efficient design — including power load calculations, energy modelling, and controls integration

    * Review and approve all electrical engineering documentation, from schematics to commissioning plans, ensuring clarity and compliance

    * Act as technical authority in client meetings, representing the company with confidence and offering clear solutions to complex design challenges

    * Liaise closely with the Projects Team during design handover, providing technical assurance throughout the build phase

    * Lead post-project reviews to drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and innovation across the team

    The Person:
    The ideal candidate will have:

    * A minimum of an HNC in Building Services or a related discipline

    * At least 3 years of experience working as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within the building services industry or 7 years experience working as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within the building services industry

    * Experience using AutoCAD

    * Knowledge of heating/HVAC design and calculations would be a huge benefit

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams

    * A full UK driving licence

    Package & Benefits:

    * Salary of up to £60,000

    * Electric company car or car allowance

    * Hybrid working with 2-3 days from home

    * Flexible start times

    * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a birthday off

    * Free on-site car parking

    This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking company that is committed to sustainability and innovation. If you have the right experience and are looking to progress your career in building services engineering, apply now
