How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Welcome to Kingston! This historic market town which used to crown Saxon kings, is now looking to crown a veterinary surgeon, to be monarch of Goddard Kingston!

    About your new role!

Our Kingston practice situated in a beautiful period building is looking for a vet to join and take the reins of this established GP practice, complete with dental and digital x-ray. The practice itself has a huge consult room with large windows looking out to the garden (complete with a family of foxes), and also has a large separate colleague area, again with natural light flooding through.

You will be fully supported by an experienced RVN and passionate trainee nurse, as well as your regional manager who is integral in the running of the region and there for additional support.

The caseload is perfectly manageable for a GP first opinion vet to step into this sole charge role. You will be able to comfortably balance your morning consultations, perform routine surgeries during the day, catch up on admin and then round up with evening consults. You will also have the support of a highly experienced regional head vet for any clinical queries or concerns you may have.

Kingston has a very bonded and respected client base, a large number of them have been returning since the 90's!

Kingston is also supported by Stone Lion 24-hour hospital in Wimbledon, for more complex cases, or OOH care your patients may need.

This 4-day week role (Wednesdays off) involves a 1:4 Saturday rotation between Kingston and Ham, and 1:10 Sundays at Stone Lion Hospital. You will be rota 'd to up to 2 bank holidays per year in Stone Lion, and there are NO on-call requirements.

As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:

    - Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.

    - Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.

    - Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.

    - Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.

    - Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.

    - Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment

    - Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP’s are being actioned

    - Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.

The practice is just a 6-minute walk from Norbiton train station, and within a 50-minute journey you are in central London.

You are also a 10-minute walk from the famous picturesque Richmond Park, and the River Thames. Kingston upon Thames really is a gem for anyone thinking about relocating.

Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, here is what we offer you:

The salary for this sole charge position inclusive of weekend rotation is £60,000 to £75,000 FTE depending on prior experience and allowing room for growth within the role.

A little snippet of the benefits you will receive as a Goddard vet:

    - 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays

    - Generous relocation assistance (where applicable)

    - Up to £2,000 CPD budget every year plus up to 5 days' paid CPD leave

    - Private Medical Healthcare Insurance with Bupa

If you can see yourself in this role press apply now, and within 60 seconds your application will be with our recruitment manager Rose. Alternatively, please feel free to email Rose directly at rstanton@goddardvetgroup.co.uk for any other queries or to simply arrange a call and have a chat about other opportunities!
