How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A leading construction and infrastructure consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director - Quantity Surveying to support the continued growth of its North West infrastructure division.

This is a major opportunity to join a highly respected consultancy delivering one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes, working directly on the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade commission, a once-in-a-generation energy transmission investment programme estimated at £60-70 billion+, designed to transform the UK’s electricity network and enable large-scale renewable energy integration across the country.

This role will focus on key packages and major infrastructure corridors forming part of this programme, including overhead line upgrades, new and reinforced substations, cable route works, and associated civils delivery across highly complex and regulated environments.

Covering projects from North Wales through to Carlisle, this role will play a critical part in supporting regional delivery, strengthening client relationships, and leading commercial teams across a major long-term infrastructure investment programme.

The consultancy is recognised for its collaborative culture, technical excellence, and track record of delivering alongside some of the industry’s most recognisable clients and nationally significant infrastructure programmes.

    The Opportunity

As Associate Director, you will work closely with a key client on the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade programme, acting as a senior commercial lead across multiple infrastructure projects and packages throughout the North West.

This role requires a hands-on and commercially astute leader capable of balancing strategic oversight with project delivery. You will support key client leadership, manage and develop teams, oversee commercial performance, and help drive regional growth within the infrastructure business.

This is a highly visible leadership role offering the opportunity to shape major energy infrastructure projects, influence client strategy, and play a central part in the long-term growth of the North West infrastructure team.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead quantity surveying and commercial management services across major National Grid Great Grid Upgrade infrastructure packages

Support a key client delivering one of the UK’s largest energy transition programmes

Manage project delivery across the North West region from North Wales to Carlisle

Lead, mentor, and develop commercial and project teams

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and delivery partners

Drive commercial strategy and delivery within NEC contract environments

Support business development and regional growth initiatives

Ensure high standards of commercial governance, reporting, and risk management

Contribute to framework growth and future project opportunities

    About You

We are looking for an experienced infrastructure commercial professional with strong leadership capability and experience operating within major programme environments.

    You will ideally have:

Significant experience within infrastructure, utilities, energy, civils, or major programmes

Strong Quantity Surveying and commercial management expertise

    Extensive NEC contract experience

    MRICS qualification

Experience working within consultancy and/or client-side environments

Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex project delivery

Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills

    Business development and relationship-building capability

A proactive and collaborative leadership style

    Why Join?

This consultancy has built an exceptional reputation for delivering major infrastructure programmes while maintaining a genuinely people-focused and collaborative culture.

With a strong pipeline of secured infrastructure work and continued regional growth, this is an opportunity to join a business investing heavily in both its people and long-term infrastructure capability.

    You will benefit from:

A senior leadership role on one of the UK’s largest energy infrastructure programmes

Direct involvement in the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade commission

Long-term career progression and strategic growth opportunities

    A collaborative and supportive culture

Exposure to nationally significant energy transition projects

The chance to help shape the future growth of the North West infrastructure division

This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious Associate Director looking to take a leading role within one of the UK’s most exciting and high-profile infrastructure environments
