How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Salary: c.£40,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
    Location: Stoneleigh, Warwickshire
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
    Contract Type: Permanent

Do you enjoy making the case for innovative policy developments and working with industry partners to improve the livelihoods of the 2,000 UK beet growers?

We are looking for a policy adviser to lead much of the public policy, public affairs and media engagement in the sugar beet sector. You’ll be the go-to on all things policy related and how these impact sugar beet growers.

You will have the chance to work in a unique, domestic agricultural sector that supplies over half the sugar consumed in the UK each year. Working closely with sugar beet growers, our industry’s research body (British Beet Research Organisation) and the processor (British Sugar plc) this role makes a real difference.

If you think you can make the case for the sugar beet sector in areas such as sustainability, farm assurance, plant health, better regulation, gene editing and health and safety, then apply and tell us why.

    What you’ll bring:

To be successful in this role you will have a strong intellect and eye for detail and be a skilled communicator and influencer, able to tailor complex messages and advocate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.

Educated to degree level in a related discipline, you will be able to distil detailed policy proposals into clear messages for growers, and turn wide-ranging feedback from growers into practical changes that can be made by policymakers.

You will be tenacious but diplomatic and enjoy rising to the many challenges facing the UK’s beet sugar industry. This is a busy, multi-faceted role so you will need to be efficient and well organised. You will be able to act independently whilst also enjoying and adding positively to a great team.

    Why choose us?

Join us and you’ll find an organisation that encourages and enables you to achieve your full potential. In return you will be rewarded with a full range of benefits including:

Generous holiday allowance (starting at 25 days a year pro rata + Bank Holidays, rising to 30 days pro rata with length of service), plus 1 annual Christmas company day
Option to buy and sell up to 5 days annual leave
Company funded health Cashplan to help with everyday costs; dental, optical, physiotherapy etc
Enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental leave
    Performance-related pay
Competitive pension and life assurance (4 x Salary)
Access to interest-free loans for cars, bikes, season tickets and driving lessons
Employee Assistance Programme to help you deal with life’s challenges
Discounts on a range of new vehicles, holiday rentals, wellbeing and lifestyle and many more
Attractive, modern office, with on-site restaurant and free parking
