How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

I’m working with a well-regarded independent school in Winchester that is looking to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position, although candidates looking for approximately 0.8 may also be considered. The role is available from September 2026 or January 2027.

The successful candidate will teach Mathematics across the senior school, including IGCSE and A Level. Prior A Level teaching experience is not essential, as support and professional development can be provided, although experience teaching A Level or Further Mathematics would be an advantage.

The Mathematics department is successful and well-established, with strong uptake at sixth form. The school follows Edexcel specifications for IGCSE and A Level, and teaching makes strong use of digital learning resources.

The school is looking for a strong Maths specialist who can inspire pupils, maintain high academic standards and contribute fully to a supportive and ambitious department. Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers as well as well-qualified graduates at the start of their teaching career.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Teaching Mathematics across the senior school

    * Preparing pupils for IGCSE and A Level Mathematics

    * Planning and delivering engaging, challenging lessons

    * Supporting pupils’ progress through assessment, feedback and targeted support

    * Contributing to departmental planning, curriculum development and wider school life

    * Taking part in pastoral responsibilities, meetings, parents’ evenings and school duties

    The ideal candidate will have:

    * Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

    * A relevant teaching qualification, or a strong desire to work towards one

    * The ability to teach GCSE/IGCSE Mathematics

    * Confidence or willingness to teach A Level Mathematics

    * Further Mathematics experience would be advantageous

    * Strong communication and classroom management skills

    * A commitment to high standards, pupil progress and professional development

The school offers a strong benefits package, including private medical insurance, pension options, school fee discount, free meals when on duty, free swimming pool membership and access to subsidised on-site activities
