How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fire Door Inspector – Temp Contract Location: Newcastle & Surrounding Areas Day Rate: Competitive (DOE – CIS or Umbrella)

    The Opportunity

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fire door inspector to pick up a short-term contract in Newcastle, with an immediate start available at the end of May. The contract involves the visual inspection of 666 fire doors across a student accommodation project, with works pencilled in at approximately 126 doors per week over a five-week programme.

    The Role

    As Fire Door Inspector, you will carry out thorough visual inspections of fire doors across a student accommodation site in Newcastle and the surrounding areas. All inspection findings will be recorded using Door Data Systems, so familiarity with this platform or similar digital recording tools is advantageous.

    This is a straightforward inspection-only role with no installation or remedial works required. You will be expected to work efficiently and accurately to meet the weekly programme targets.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out visual inspections of fire doors across student accommodation sites

    * Assess fire doors for compliance, identifying defects, gaps, ironmongery issues and seal condition

    * Record all inspection findings accurately using Door Data Systems

    * Work to a structured programme of approximately 126 doors per week

    * Maintain clear and organised records throughout the contract

    * Liaise with site contacts and conduct yourself professionally on occupied sites

    What We're Looking For

    * Proven experience carrying out fire door inspections

    * Strong working knowledge of fire door compliance standards including gap tolerances, ironmongery, intumescent seals and signage requirements

    * Experience working within student accommodation, social housing or similar occupied environments

    * Familiarity with Door Data Systems or similar digital inspection recording platforms — desirable

    * FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme) accreditation — desirable

    * BM TRADA or IFC awareness — desirable

    * CSCS Card — desirable

    * Full UK Driving Licence — desirable

    What's On Offer

    * Competitive day rate (DOE)

    * CIS or umbrella payment available

    * Roughly five weeks of contracted work

    * Start date 25th May

    * Straightforward visual inspection role with no remedial works required
