Academics is a dedicated education recruitment agency currently seeking a committed, dependable Teaching Assistant to join a Key Stage 1 classroom in a friendly and positive primary school located in the northern part of Newport. The school offers a nurturing environment where young learners are encouraged to grow in confidence and develop a positive attitude towards learning.
This is a full-time, temporary position suited to someone who is enthusiastic about supporting children in their early education journey and enjoys making a meaningful impact in a KS1 setting.
Classroom Support Responsibilities:
Support pupils in KS1 with everyday classroom learning activities and structured tasks
Work closely with the class teacher to deliver small group sessions and targeted interventions
Help maintain pupil focus, engagement, and positive behaviour throughout the school day
Provide flexible general classroom support as required
Work Monday to Friday, with a start date expected from September 2026 or earlier, depending on availabilityCandidate Requirements:
An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school environment
A solid understanding of primary education, particularly Key Stage 1
Strong written and spoken English skills
A patient, encouraging, and positive approach to supporting learning
