How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

    Location: Kent (DA8 Area)
    Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum
    Hours: Full Time
    Contract: Permanent

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a children’s residential home in Kent.

    This is an opportunity to join a home focused on creating stability, structure, and positive long-term outcomes for children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

    Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help lead the team, maintain high standards of care, and create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

    This role would suit someone ready to step further into leadership while remaining hands-on and child focused in their approach.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home

    * Lead and guide the residential team to deliver consistent, trauma-informed care

    * Promote safeguarding and positive behaviour support throughout the home

    * Assist with care planning, risk assessments, and placement planning

    * Help maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Quality Standards

    * Support rota planning, staff supervision, and team development

    * Build positive relationships with children, families, professionals, and external agencies

    * Participate in the on-call rota as required

    What We’re Looking For

    Essential

    * Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

    * Experience within a children’s residential setting

    * Previous senior or leadership experience within residential care

    * Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted expectations

    * Calm, resilient, and nurturing approach

    * Full UK driving licence

    Desirable

    * Working towards Level 5 Leadership & Management

    * Experience within trauma-informed or therapeutic care models

    * Experience supporting children with EBD and complex needs
