How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Location: South Anchorage – Forth Road Bridge, South Queensferry
    Category: Electrical
Contract: Full time, 40 hours per week, plus overtime

BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000 km of Scotland’s trunk road network, delivering a wide range of services and working around the clock to help keep Scotland moving safely.

The South East Trunk Road Unit spans approximately 506 km, covering some of the busiest sections of the country, from Central Scotland through to the Scottish Borders. This includes major multi‑lane motorways across the Central Belt, as well as trunk roads running through towns and rural communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable and hardworking Electrician to join our Electrical Team, supporting the South East Trunk Road Network and working on iconic infrastructure projects including the Forth Road Bridge and the Queensferry Crossing.

The successful candidate will carry out electrical work associated with these assets and will also be responsible for groundworks linked to the installation of streetlighting columns and associated infrastructure. You will work closely with fellow electricians and wider operational teams to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, in line with all relevant health and safety regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carrying out regular inspections and planned electrical maintenance on the Forth Road Bridge, Queensferry Crossing, and South East Trunk Road facilities

    * Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults efficiently to minimise disruption to road users

    * Supporting the delivery of electrical system upgrades and enhancement works across the network

    * Working collaboratively with a skilled, multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe operation of critical infrastructure assets

    * Strictly adhering to all health, safety, and regulatory requirements to protect the public and colleagues

    * Providing technical expertise and practical recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    * Fully qualified Electrician, holding relevant certifications and licences

    * Strong working knowledge of electrical safety legislation, standards, and best practice

    * Minimum of two years’ proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault repair

    * Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and the capability to work effectively in demanding environments

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

    * Willingness and ability to work in varied conditions, including working at height and in confined spaces
