How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Kenton Black are recruiting for a permanent Quantity Surveyor position in Aberdeenshire.

Our client, a major Tier 1 main contractor delivering a flagship power and renewables infrastructure programme in the region, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to play a key role on a high-profile project within a nationally significant energy framework.

    Key Responsibilities:

    - Manage commercial activities across a large-scale power/renewables project using NEC forms of contract
    - Support cost planning, forecasting, and budget management throughout the construction lifecycle
    - Administer subcontract packages, including procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts
    - Work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate cost control and reporting
    - Assess and manage commercial risks, providing recommendations to the project leadership team
    - Prepare and review contractual documentation in line with NEC requirements
    - Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to support effective commercial delivery
    - Contribute to project reporting and support monthly CVR processes

    What You Bring:

    - Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a major main contractor
    - Strong working knowledge of NEC contract types (essential)
    - Background in large-scale infrastructure, power, utilities, or renewables projects
    - Ability to manage commercial responsibilities independently and proactively
    - Excellent contractual, numerical, and analytical skills
    - Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
    - A structured, detail-focused approach with the ability to support fast-paced project environments

    Why This Role?

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a leading Tier 1 contractor on a major renewables/power infrastructure programme in Aberdeenshire. You’ll be part of a high-performing commercial team delivering a flagship project that supports long-term energy resilience in Scotland. With a salary of up to £55,000 per annum + car allowance, this role offers strong progression prospects and the chance to work on one of the region’s most exciting major schemes.

If you’re an experienced Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC experience and a background in major contractor environments, we’d love to hear from you
