How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client, a major Tier 1 main contractor delivering a flagship power and renewables infrastructure programme across the region, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. This permanent role offers an outstanding opportunity to take senior commercial responsibility on a nationally significant energy project with long-term strategic importance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    - Lead commercial management activities on a large-scale power/renewables project under NEC contract frameworks
    - Oversee cost planning, forecasting, budget management, and financial reporting across multiple work packages
    - Manage subcontract strategies, procurement, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts
    - Provide senior-level commercial advice to project leadership, ensuring robust cost control and contract compliance
    - Drive risk identification and mitigation processes, advising on commercial impacts and opportunities
    - Review and draft contractual documentation, ensuring alignment with NEC contract obligations
    - Liaise with clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders at a senior level to support project delivery
    - Lead and mentor junior QS team members, promoting high standards and consistent commercial governance
    - Contribute to monthly CVRs and ensure accurate commercial reporting to senior management

    What You Bring:

    - Significant experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or strong QS ready for the step up) within a major main contractor environment
    - Expert knowledge of NEC contract types, with a proven ability to manage NEC projects at scale
    - Background in major infrastructure, utilities, power, or renewables work
    - Strong contractual understanding with excellent analytical, commercial, and strategic thinking skills
    - Ability to influence and communicate effectively across client teams and senior internal stakeholders
    - Leadership capability with experience mentoring and supporting commercial staff
    - Proactive, structured, and detail-driven approach to complex project delivery

    Why This Role?

This is a high-profile opportunity to join a leading Tier 1 contractor working on one of Scotland’s most important renewables and power infrastructure programmes. With a salary of up to £77,000 per annum + car allowance + comprehensive package, this role offers excellent progression prospects, long-term workload security, and the chance to help deliver a flagship project in Aberdeenshire.

If you’re an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC expertise and proven delivery capability on major projects, we’d love to hear from you
