How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Role
    An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Junior Workshop Technician to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. This role would suit a hands-on individual looking to develop a long-term career within mechanical engineering, assembly, or maintenance.

    The successful candidate will support the assembly, repair, servicing, and testing of mechanical equipment while learning workshop procedures, quality standards, and engineering best practices. Full training and support will be provided for the right individual.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Assist with the assembly, servicing, repair, and testing of mechanical products and equipment
    • Follow technical instructions, engineering drawings, and workshop procedures
    • Support senior technicians and engineers with day-to-day workshop activities
    • Use hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely and correctly
    • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used
    • Help ensure products are built to required quality standards
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
    • Assist with inspection and fault-finding activities where required
    • Support stock movement, parts organisation, and general workshop duties
    • Follow company health & safety procedures at all times
    • Assist with continuous improvement and general workshop efficiency initiatives

    Skills & Experience
    Interest in mechanical engineering
    Engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or college-based engineering training advantageous
    Basic understanding of mechanical systems and workshop tools
    Ability to follow technical instructions and engineering drawings
    Good practical and hands-on skills
    Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
    Good communication and team-working skills
    Organised and reliable approach to work
    Awareness of workshop health & safety practices beneficial
