How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a well-established and growing plant and equipment hire business, is looking to add a proactive and organised Hire Controller to its busy operations team based in Glasgow.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, has strong coordination skills, and thrives on delivering excellent customer service. You’ll play a key role in ensuring hire operations run smoothly while supporting customers and internal teams throughout the full hire process.

    The Role:

    As Hire Controller, you’ll be responsible for coordinating equipment hires from initial enquiry through to off-hire, ensuring customers receive a seamless and efficient service.

    Key responsibilities:

    * Acting as the first point of contact for customer hire enquiries

    * Managing quotations, bookings, deliveries, and off-hires

    * Coordinating logistics and equipment movements to meet customer requirements

    * Liaising with transport, workshop, and depot teams to maximise fleet utilisation

    * Maintaining accurate hire records and operational documentation

    * Supporting operational efficiency and customer satisfaction across the depot

    * Identifying opportunities to improve processes and service delivery

    The Candidate:

    * Previous experience as a Hire Controller with the plant, equipment or tool hire industry

    * Strong organisational and multitasking abilities

    * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    * Good attention to detail and administrative accuracy

    * A proactive and solutions-focused mindset

    * Confidence using CRM systems and Microsoft Office packages

    * A positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
