How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Wiring Technician (Fixed Term Contract)

    Salary: £32,400 per annum
    Job Type: Fixed Term Contract for 12 months
    Hours: Full time start at 06.30
    Location: Wallsend

    We are looking for a skilled and motivated Wiring Technician to join our Production team on a fixed term contract basis.

    This role involves the manufacture and assembly of wires, cables, harnesses and wiring looms to support electrical system builds.

    The successful candidate will work to detailed build instructions, wiring schedules and drawings while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Manufacture wires, cables, harnesses and wiring looms using manual tools and automatic machines

    * Follow build instructions, wiring schedules and technical drawings accurately

    * Support electrical technicians with panel wiring and small component assembly where required

    * Maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process

    * Complete allocated production tasks in line with schedules and deadlines

    * Carry out daily maintenance on wire manufacturing machines

    * Support continuous improvement activities within the department

    * Assist Manufacturing Engineering with the creation of wiring schedules from existing products

    * Follow all Health & Safety procedures and task risk assessments

    Skills & Experience Required

    * Experience in wire and cable manufacturing

    * Trained to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard or equivalent

    * Skilled in the use of crimp and cable-making hand tools

    * Experience working with electrical connectors such as Molex, Deutch and D-Type connectors

    * Soldering experience for wiring and PCB manufacture

    * Experience stripping, crimping and terminating cables and electrical assemblies

    * Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for basic data processing

    * HNC qualification or equivalent experience desirable

    * Experience working within a continuous improvement environment
