How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

About the role of Section Engineer

You'll be joining a major airfield resurfacing and infrastructure programme near Witney, Oxford, supporting the delivery of a high-profile operational upgrade scheme within a live and highly regulated environment.

This is a step-up role suited to an experienced Engineer looking for more responsibility without moving fully into Senior Engineer level. You'll play a key role overseeing multiple subcontractors delivering large packages of works across the programme, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are maintained throughout.

The project will involve complex sequencing, tight deadlines, and a collaborative approach with delivery teams working across days, nights, and weekend shifts to maintain programme milestones.

    Responsibilities for Section Engineer

    * Oversee multiple subcontractors delivering surfacing, civils, and infrastructure packages
    * Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements
    * Coordinate site activities and support engineering and management teams across the project
    * Maintain QA records, permits, site documentation, and as-built information
    * Monitor health & safety standards and ensure compliance across all work fronts
    * Assist with planning and sequencing works within a live operational environment
    * Support delivery teams during day shifts, night shifts, and weekend working where required

    Requirements for Section Engineer

    * CSCS Card
    * HND, Degree, or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline
    * Proven experience working on large infrastructure, highways, aviation, or heavy civils projects
    * Strong subcontractor management and coordination experience
    * Competent with site documentation, QA procedures, and setting out principles
    * Able to work within fast-paced operational environments and demanding programmes

    About the company

You'll be working with a well-established contractor delivering complex infrastructure and civil engineering schemes across the UK. The business has a strong reputation for safely delivering technically challenging projects and offers long-term opportunities for engineers who can take ownership on site.

What we offer for Section Engineer

    * £350 - £450 per day CIS, dependant on experience
    * Long-term contract on a secured infrastructure scheme
    * 12-hour shifts with opportunities for weekends and night work
    * Potential shift rotation patterns including 12 days on / 2 days off
    * Opportunity to work on a nationally significant operational project
    * Strong pipeline of future infrastructure work following successful delivery
