How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    📍 Wakefield-based with flexibility

🚗 Client-facing activity expected 1-2 days per week

A leading multi-service organisation within the built environment sector is seeking an experienced Head of Sales & Commercial to join its senior leadership team and drive the next phase of strategic growth.

Operating across compliance, consultancy, environmental testing and specialist technical services, the business has an established market presence, strong contractor-led revenue streams, and significant untapped commercial potential across multiple service lines.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a high-impact leadership role combining strategic direction with hands-on commercial delivery.

    Key focus areas include:

    • Developing and executing the group-wide commercial strategy

    • Driving market penetration with larger contractors and housebuilders

    • Identifying and capitalising on cross-selling opportunities across business units

    • Creating targeted campaigns, propositions, and bundled service offerings

    • Leading and developing regional and national commercial teams

    • Introducing structure, KPIs, and performance accountability

    • Enhancing digital presence, market positioning, and routes to market

    • Reviewing and improving sales processes and commercial performance

    The successful candidate will bring:

✔ Proven experience operating at Head of Commercial / Sales leadership level

✔ A strong track record of strategic business growth and sales leadership

✔ Experience leading and developing high-performing commercial teams

✔ The ability to operate both strategically and operationally

✔ Strong commercial and financial acumen, including forecasting and performance management

✔ Sector experience within built environment, engineering, environmental, contractor, or related technical services

Experience and relationships within contractor or housebuilder markets would be particularly advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape commercial direction within an ambitious, growing organisation with genuine scope to influence long-term business performance.
