Factory Manager - Chemicals

Location: Reading, UK
Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Friday, 9am-5pm
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000p.a

We are a leading chemical manufacturer with both UK and international customers, producing a broad range of specialty chemical products used across various industrial sectors. We are seeking a Factory Manager with a background in chemistry or relevant production experience working in industry. Candidates with experience in chemical production or similarly highly regulated manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Lead day‑to‑day factory operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing.
Manage and support production staff, including training, performance reviews, and workforce planning.
Oversee maintenance activities, respond to equipment breakdowns, and ensure reliable plant performance.
Maintain stock accuracy, coordinate raw material orders, and ensure compliant waste management.
Develop and monitor production schedules, resolving delays and driving continuous improvement.
Collaborate with internal teams to maintain strong communication and operational alignment.Skills & Qualifications

5+ years in manufacturing management (eg. chemical, materials or scientific industry)
Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
Working knowledge of production planning tools (Sage 200 experience beneficial).
