How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Do you want a role where you are out and about across North London, representing an ambitious college and opening doors for the next generation of learners? If so, we would love to hear from you.

As our Schools Liaison Officer, you will be the College's named, consistent presence in our partner schools across North London. You will deliver a structured programme of engagement, from assemblies and workshops to careers fairs and parents evenings, building trusted relationships with senior leaders, careers leads and pastoral teams and ensuring young people have everything they need to make informed decisions about their post-16 and post-18 options.

Working closely with the Marketing Manager and colleagues across curriculum and student recruitment, you will play a direct role in driving awareness of and progression into Barnet and Southgate College, and you will have real scope to shape how the College is presented and received in the communities it serves.

    * Student recruitment: Promote the full College offer, including 16-18 provision, T Levels, Apprenticeships and Higher Education, supporting learners, parents and carers to understand their options and progression routes.

    * Events and collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing Manager and Schools Liaison and Events Planner to align school activity with wider recruitment campaigns, including Open Events, Taster Days and Applicant Events.

    * Data and insight: Log activity accurately using CRM and internal systems, collect market intelligence from schools and provide insight and recommendations to improve engagement effectiveness and targeting.

    * Safeguarding and standards: Ensure all engagement activity complies with safeguarding, health and safety, and EDI requirements, and represent the College professionally at all times.

    What You'll Bring

    * Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver shared goals

    * Experience of collecting feedback or insight to inform future activity

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a confident, approachable presentation style

    * Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload independently

    * Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office

    * Willingness to travel regularly across North London and to undertake occasional evening or weekend work

    * Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion

    Even Better If You Have...

    * Experience in FE or post-16 education

    * Knowledge of Provider Access Legislation (PAL) requirements
Experience supporting recruitment or outreach activity
