How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, solving technical challenges, and contributing to continuous improvement within a modern and quality-focused engineering business.

    Key Duties:

    * Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.

    * Design and manufacture workholding solutions including soft jaws, fixtures and jigs.

    * Write and edit CNC programs using Siemens ShopTurn and ShopMill controls.

    * Carry out in-process and final inspections using standard metrology equipment.

    * Complete first-off sign-off procedures using digital shop floor systems.

    * Support production workflow and assist with problem-solving on the shop floor.

    * Contribute to tooling optimisation, cycle time reduction and process improvements.

    * Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and Health & Safety compliance.

    Requirements:

    * Fully time-served CNC machinist with strong turning and milling experience.

    * Previous experience within a subcontract or high-mix, low-volume environment.

    * Good knowledge of Siemens ShopTurn and ShopMill controls.

    * Ability to manufacture workholding solutions independently.

    * Competent using manual machining equipment where required.

    * Confident using inspection equipment and interpreting engineering drawings.

    * Organised, methodical and able to work independently.

    * Full right to work in the UK.

    Desirable Experience:

    * Experience within an AS9100 or ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.

    * Knowledge of FAIRs and traceability requirements.

    * Experience with XYZ ProtoTRAK systems.

    * Exposure to CMM or vision-based inspection equipment.

    * Experience machining stainless steel, aluminium and titanium.

    Benefits:

    * Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience.

    * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

    * Opportunity to work with modern Siemens-controlled machinery.

    * Supportive and collaborative engineering environment.

    * Opportunities for progression and technical development.

    * Planned workplace EV charging facilities
