How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Smile Education are proud to be supporting an independent specialist school in Staffordshire in their search for an experienced and dedicated Science Teacher to join their team from September on a full-time, long-term basis.

    This specialist provision supports children and young people aged 7–17 with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Dyslexia, providing a nurturing and structured environment where pupils can thrive both academically and personally.

    The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated Science lessons while supporting pupils with additional learning needs. The role will include full teaching responsibilities, including:

    Planning and delivering high-quality lessons
    Completing assessments and tracking pupil progress
    Carrying out observations and reporting
    Attending staff meetings, reviews, and relevant CPD
    Supporting positive behaviour management strategies
    Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environmentRequirements To be considered for this role, applicants must:

    Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Have experience teaching Science within a school setting
    Have strong behaviour management skills
    Be confident supporting children with additional needs and learning difficulties
    Be able to commit to the full teaching role and responsibilitiesECTs will be considered if they can demonstrate relevant experience and confidence in undertaking the full responsibilities of the position.
    Safeguarding & Compliance Successful applicants will be required to:

    Attend a registration interview with Smile Education
    Attend a meeting/interview with the school
    Provide references covering the past two years, including comments relating to your interaction and work with children
    Hold an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile EducationThis is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference within a supportive specialist setting dedicated to helping young people achieve their full potential.
