Our client is currently recruiting for two experienced Employee Relations Consultants – one permanent position and one 12-month fixed term contract – to join a busy and forward-thinking public sector HR team based in Medway, working on a hybrid basis.
About the role
This is a key Employee Relations role providing expert HR advice, coaching, and case management support across a diverse and complex organisation. You will play a pivotal part in supporting managers to handle employee relations issues confidently, fairly, and consistently.
You will take ownership of a varied caseload and provide specialist guidance across a wide range of HR matters including sickness absence, capability, disciplinaries, grievances, and formal investigations.
Key responsibilities
Manage a caseload of sickness absence and ill health cases
Coach and support managers in the consistent application of absence management policies
Analyse absence data and produce meaningful insight, recommendations, and action plans
Provide professional HR advice to investigating officers, hearing chairs, and appeal panels
Lead and support formal investigations and complex employee relations casework
Support and advise on disciplinary, grievance, capability, and dispute resolution processes
Design and deliver training in collaboration with Learning & Development colleagues
Contribute to the review, development, and improvement of HR policies, processes, and toolkits
Promote best practice in employee relations and drive consistency across the organisationAbout you
We are looking for someone with strong Employee Relations experience who can confidently manage complex casework and influence stakeholders at all levels. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and supporting managers through challenging HR issues.
Essential experience:
Strong background in Employee Relations / HR advisory roles
Experience managing sickness absence and capability cases
Proven ability to support formal investigations and hearings
Confidence coaching and influencing managers
Experience working within a complex or public sector environment (desirable but not essential)What’s on offer
