How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Worthing and Northbrook College, part of the Chichester College Group

    Pastoral Support Manager [Ref: NBK9849]

    £44,630 - £48,774 per annum

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

We are seeking an exceptional Pastoral Support Manager to join our Pastoral Support team, working across Worthing and Northbrook campuses. This is an essential and impactful role within the College, offering the opportunity to shape and lead outstanding pastoral provision that supports attendance, retention, achievement and personal development for all students.

    About the role

As Pastoral Support Manager you will have oversight and management of the day-to-day leadership of our pastoral support provision. Reporting to the Director for Pastoral Support and Behaviour you will lead, manage and develop a committed team, ensuring students receive high-quality, responsive and inclusive support that enables them to thrive academically, socially and personally.

You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, embedding effective policies and procedures, and ensuring that pastoral services align with the College’s values, quality standards and strategic priorities. Acting as an advocate for the student voice, you will help ensure services meet the evolving needs of a diverse learner population.

    What you’ll be doing

Managing pastoral teams to deliver an excellent, student-centred service.

Ensuring strong focus on attendance, retention and achievement, with effective monitoring and intervention.

Managing staff, resources and data effectively.

Supporting the implementation of the Positive Behaviour Management policy.

Developing collaborative relationships with curriculum teams, parents, carers and external agencies.

Championing equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding and learner wellbeing.

Contributing to training, development and a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

    About you

You will have experience working within Further Education or a similar setting, with significant direct student contact and a proven track record of leading teams. You will bring strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to set and monitor SMART targets, and confidence in working with a wide range of stakeholders.

Educated to at least A-Level standard (or equivalent), you will have a broad knowledge of learner support services, inclusive learning, and relevant legislation including safeguarding, equality and disability legislation. Relevant qualifications in coaching, mental health or managing challenging behaviour are desirable.

Most importantly, you will be proactive, flexible and genuinely committed to supporting students to achieve their full potential.

If you are ready to lead impactful pastoral provision and help shape the future for our students, we would love to hear from you.
